um, frickin' brrrrrrr

Alright so I was whining about a little -13 earlier this month... and now it is -25 and likely to get into the minus 30 territory - BLAH! -32 and there will be no school... which means I could probably stay home from work tomorrow... come on - bring on the cold - what is the shut down situation in the lower mainland - how cold before they shut schools down... ??? anyone know? I bet its a heck of a lot warmer than -32...

Ok - I'm going to go warm up - it's weather like this that really shows how poorly your home is insulated...

We are in the same situation here... frickin' cold. It was beautiful yesterday - about 3 above. It is now -20 something and heading for -35 overnight with a wind chill of -55. BLAH! There is a blizzard too.

When I first moved here, they started closing schools at two inches of snow. I laughed coming from Mackenzie two weeks before where there had been snow to my knees overnight, the plows hadn't made it around (!) and we still had to go.

SFU never closes due to snow, because after my first, maybe second, year of university when there was massive trouble at the top of the hill, they made sure they were ready for anything. When you get to the top of the hill, the roads are clear and wonderful. However, you can't get to the top of the hill because the city of Burnaby can't get Burnaby Mountain's roads cleared safely. Too bad for you.

Coquitlam School District NEVER closes, regardless of road conditions. Private schools close whenever there's a chance snow is going to cause transportation troubles.

And having said that, Coquitlam actually closed its schools today. Most everything did. There was an incredible amount of snow for the lower mainland though. I'm sure there were 8 inches on Sunday, and another 8 today on my driveway. And, because it's wet, it's much slipperier (what an odd word) than northern snow. But, it also makes making snowmen easier!

Stay warm,
Jen.
