Books

A little boredom killer from Carmen's blog...

“The Big Read" reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed.”

1) Look at the list and bold (or color if your bold isn't working) those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.
5) Reprint this list in your own blog so we can try and track down these people who’ve read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

18 out of 100... well better than six... I'm surprised by the list though - there are a lot of books on here that I wouldn't have thought would make a top 100 - Bridget Jones was a funny book - but it shouldn't even be on the same list as shakespeare...

Ok - so let's mix things up - what books do I think people should read... my pics - if you are copying and pasting this to your blog than add your own list for best reads that didn't make this list...

1. 100 Mile Diet - MacKinnon -Smith
2. The Secret - Byrne
3. The Green Mile - King
4. Timothy Findley books - any of them
5. The Griffin and Sabine series
6. The Pillars of the Earth - Follett
7. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - King
8. The Poisonwood Bible (well it was mostly good) - Kingsolver

Planning to read

1. A new earth - Tolle
2. Stash of smut :)

Not too bad, considering I'm an English major/teacher, but I'm sure it should be more than that... :)

35 books - holy crap - that's great - alright - Jen are you reading anything right now - or plan to read something for the summer....????

As a matter of fact, I just started reading a Wilbur Smith book today. Not great literature, but good escape lit. I'd love another Guy Gavriel Kay novel, but I think it'll be another year before he puts another out. Not a lot of time for reading this past semester, but maybe I'll have more time this summer. I'm teaching summer school in the mornings so my afternoons will battle between finally finishing the bathroom, yardwork, reading, napping, and maybe having some sort of social life outside of family. I'd say the laziest ones would win out, but I did pull three giant bags of weeds from the yard today.

Take care,
Jen.
