Well if they didn't laugh at us before...

This is from CTV's website... I actually didn't watch the closing ceremonies... but got texted about the floating beaver and had to look online and see it with my own eyes... freakin' floating beavers - holy crow... I can't believe it!

I watched it and saw this and the whole time they where saying "please remember we are making fun of ourselves here, I feel bad for someone who just turned us on and sees this and thinks they are being serious" What about the millions of people who just tuned in and think OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL.... Not cool people! Lets says that we are wood copping, red necked, hillbillies more! Totally smart.Well done!

I completely agree - we kicked ass in the olympics and then it was decided that we needed to make fun of ourselves - just a bunch of beaver lovers in the north... we love our beavers so much (even though we damn near annihilated them back in the day when we first got here and stole the land) that we decided to make gigantic blow up versions so that generations of Canadians can look back on the 2010 olympics and be frightened by the imagery of enormous buck toothed rodents.

We should have shown how proud we were of the achievements of our athletes and the achievements of all the athletes who came to the games. They all did the best they could do and that should have been the focus instead of the traditional Canadian garb - let us celebrate our successes! Celebrate all our wins and take that idea into our own lives - celebrate our personal successes - be it that we just got out of bed, that we wrote a symphony, that we completed our work on time and mostly on budget, and on and on and on... successes - be them large or small, are in all our lives - celebrate them! Ring the bells of delight - we deserve it - we are Canadian - let us be proud and not ashamed and have to mock ourselves on our own soil!

They said that it was to show how proud we are of our humour and our ability to poke fun at ourselves. There were parts I really liked, and other parts that were just too much. Yes, the flying moose, inflatable beaver, table hockey count in the too much! Catherine O'Hara was good...until it went too far.
